On July 6, 2024, cooperatives around the world are celebrating International Cooperative Day with the slogan “Cooperatives build a better future for all.” This theme fits well with the goals of the upcoming UN Future Summit, whose theme is “Multilateral Solutions for the Future.”

Cooperative identity, values and principles create a strong framework for achieving the SDGs. #CoopsDay 2024 will allow co-ops to demonstrate their high standards of inclusive and sustainable growth and act as champions of the environment and climate action. Through dialogue, democratic governance and shared ownership, cooperatives set an example of peace and stability, bringing people from different walks of life together on equal terms and promoting mutual understanding and respect.

Cooperatives have a successful track record of promoting the economic and social development of all people, including marginalized groups. Cooperatives have consistently demonstrated their resilience in times of social and economic crises.

“As we celebrate the significant and often quiet contributions of co-operatives, it is also time for us to reflect on what we have achieved to build a better future and what we can do better together,” says the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA).

Let's use this day to be inspired to collaborate, explore all opportunities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and take action to achieve them.

Held on this day, July 6, 2024 by the Russian University of Cooperation, the II International Scientific and Practical Forum “Cooperatives are building a better future for all” gives impetus to the proclamation of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, which was declared by the UN last year.

The collection of works of the scientific and practical forum is assigned an international publication number ISBN, and each publication has a UDC, mainly assigned to code 334.73 Cooperatives and JEL, mainly assigned to code Q01 - Sustainable Development.

Each forum participant is given the opportunity to receive their own personalized certificate in their Personal Account, the authenticity of which can be verified at any time on the OpenScience platform and added to their portfolio with their own personalized verified CERTIFICATE.
